Herfst in Bergen
September en oktober luidden de herfst in hier in Bergen, Noorwegen. Je leert hier heel snel: regen kan elk moment vallen, en je beste vriend is je paraplu en een goede regenjas! Investeren in regenkleding is een must in deze stad.
In september was het gelukkig voornamelijk nog heerlijk weer. De maand bestond uit wandelen, zwemmen en nog eens wandelen! In de stad kan je in de fjord zwemmen en in de bergen kan je makkelijk in allerlei meertjes duiken (ijskoud!). Het is hier heel makkelijk om
wandelroutes te vinden; er zijn allerlei websites van de Noorse Toeristen Vereniging waarop je kan zoeken. De routes zijn goed gemarkeerd en veelal met het OV te bereiken. Je kunt hier ook makkelijk huttentochten doen. Dat is echt een ontzettende aanrader, want zo kom je dichterbij de natuur en kom je op plekken waar je soms dagenlang 
niemand tegenkomt. De overnachtingshutten liggen vaak hoger in de bergen en daar kan je langer blijven. Je hebt er vaak geen bereik waardoor je op elkaar aangewezen bent. In de dag-hutten kan je binnen lezen en vuur stoken, maar daar kun je niet overnachten. Ze hebben vaak een glazen muur met prachtig uitzicht. Tot slot sloten we uiteindelijk september af met het zien van het eerste Noorderlicht, gewoon vanuit het park achter de campus!
Oktober was wat natter en het wandelen veranderde soms in een modderboel. Het hebben van waterdichte schoenen is hiervoor een must! De omgeving veranderde in deze maand naar een prachtig palet van herfstkleuren. Hierdoor kon je opnieuw genieten van alle bekende uitzichten. Op een van de huttentochten
begon het in de bergen al te sneeuwen tijdens zonsopkomst. Dat was echt prachtig! Deze maand speelde ook mijn thuisclub (FC Utrecht) tegen FC Brann hier in Bergen! Hier ben ik met vrienden naartoe gegaan en dat was een mega gave ervaring. Wel wat bijzonder in vergelijking met thuis; ze verkopen géén alcohol in en om het stadion. Dus met een biertje juichen zat er niet in. Dat maakte verder niet uit, want de energie in het stadion was er niet minder op!
Tot slot zijn mij nog wat dingen opgevallen hier in Noorwegen. Ten eerste: Noren vinden het prima als je je baby meeneemt naar de sportschool of naar de les. Ik heb bij een van mijn vakken een baby in de les van twee maanden oud! Familieleven staat hier voorop en het is niet raar voor mensen om pas later te beginnen met studeren (als ze dus al een gezin hebben gestart).
Ook is het spitsuur hier een stuk eerder, tussen vier en vijf ‘s middags, en sport iedereen na school of werk. Gezondheid staat hier op nummer 1 en dat zie je; iedereen is hartstikke fit en er zijn mega veel sportwinkels. Bijna iedereen doet aan hardlopen. Dus vanzelfsprekend hebben mijn vrienden en ik een aantal wedstrijden meegedaan.
Als laatste is het hier veel makkelijker om op school goedkoop te eten dan in Nederland. In elk lesgebouw zit een café waar je tegen een spotgoedkope prijs warm eten kan eten, zoals pasta, geroosterde groenten, wafels en noem maar op! Het is heel gevarieerd en vaak erg gezond. Het is de perfecte manier om tussen de lessen door bij te kletsen met vrienden en te lunchen.
