Preparing for Limerick!

Hi dear readers,

Welcome to my first ever blogpost about my upcoming adventure studying abroad. My name is Malou Roestenburg and I’m 23 years old. At the end of august I will set off to study at Limerick University in Ireland, my major there will be psychology. At Utrecht University I’m not a psychology student, I study pedagogical sciences or however you say it in English. Since this mayor doesn’t exist at most places outside off the Netherlands, I chose to study psychology since this is closest to what I study at home. I’m very excited to finally go to Ireland, it’s something I’ve been working towards since November last year. And now that it is almost happening I am absolutely thrilled. The semester will start at Monday the 29th of august, but we, myself and 2 other girls from Utrecht, are flying to Ireland on Thursday the 24th of august. We wanted to be able to settle in and explore the campus and Limerick before the semester starts. We are all going to be living on campus but in different dorm rooms. This way we can still rely on each other but still have our own adventure. What I’m most looking forward to is meeting new people, whether they are from Ireland or from other parts of the world. Learning about there cultures and where they are from is very exciting for me. Oh and also there signature food, I know I’m definitely going to bring stroopwafels and make them Dutch pancakes and other staples. But for now I’m enjoying my vacation in Blanes, Spain. Once I get home it will soon be time to start packing and saying goodbye to all of my friends and family. The packing though is definitely going to be a challenge. How do you fit 4 months of clothing into one large and one small suitcase? I’m not sure I’m ever going to make it fit. But I guess I’ll find out over the next couple of weeks. Right now I am going to enjoy the rest of my holiday, and to all of you who are also going abroad: good luck packing and have fun! I know I will!
