Een blik op mijn leven in de eerste maand
Ik zit nu precies op de helft van mijn exchange in Bergen, Noorwegen! Hier een blik op mijn leven in de eerste maand.
Toen ik aankwam op 1 augustus was het even schakelen; het schooljaar begint hier halverwege augustus al! De introductieweek bood allerlei activiteiten aan aan internationale studenten en ik heb vooral veel de omgeving verkend in de eerste weken. Ik was in het begin bang om geen vrienden te maken, ikzelf ben namelijk vrij introvert en ik leerde ontzettend veel nieuwe mensen kennen. Wie vond nou wat leuk? En met wie wilde ik vaker omgaan?
De universiteit bood meerdere markten aan met alle
studentenorganisaties (er zijn er ontzettend veel! Van wandelen tot volleybal, van schaken tot theater). Ik besloot me aan te melden voor BSI Friluft, een organisatie die gericht is op outdoor activiteiten zoals klimmen, wandelen en weekenden in de berghutten of op gletsjers.
Tijdens het wandelen heb ik andere internationals leren kennen en al gauw ontstond er ons eigen 
vriendengroepje. Hiermee ben ik naar een festival in de bergen geweest, georganiseerd door de studentenvereniging! Dat was echt mega gaaf! Er was live muziek in de bergen bij hun eigen berghut en we kampeerden allemaal in de vallei er omheen! We hadden 3 dagen aan wandel plezier en maakten eten om het kampvuur en hadden in de avond muziek. Dat was echt een hoogtepunt.
Verder heb ik in de eerste maand erg veel gewandeld. Het was abnormaal goed weer
voor de stad (de meest regenachtige stad in Europa) en daar hebben we volop gebruik van gemaakt. Bergen heeft 7 bergen er omheen en iedereen heeft het doel om ze allemaal te bewandelen. Het OV is hier heel goed, dus je kunt makkelijk de omgeving verkennen en dus ook verder weg wandelen. De bergen zijn fantastisch en vaak kan je bovenop de gletsjers in de verte zien, maar ook de fjorden en de zee. Heel erg bijzonder! We hebben ook veel koude duiken genomen in alle bergmeren.
Het onderwijs op de universiteit is goed geregeld. De klassen zijn klein en ik volg een aantal pedagogische vakken, waar ik vooral 1tje erg leuk van vind. Het is hier minder gewoon om tijdens de lessen vragen te stellen, dus dat was wennen in het begin. Mensen gaan vooral in de pauze of na afloop naar de docenten toe. Het is wel fijn contact met de docenten. Naast pedagogiek studeer ik ook Noors. Het is een leuke en vrij makkelijke taal om te leren, en hierdoor voel ik me meer verbonden met locals als ik ze spreek. Ze waarderen het ook echt als je het probeert!
Ohja, en mijn woonsituatie; ik woon op de campus Fantoft, met zo’n 2000 andere
mensen. Zelf woon ik in een kleine studio (Lees; 12m2!!!) samen met een Zweeds meisje. We slapen in een stapelbed, heel erg wennen! Maar ook wel knus. De studentenwoningen worden geregeld vanuit de universiteit dus dat is fijn. Een groot deel van de bewoners op de campus is international en je hoort vaak Nederlands, Duits of Italiaans buiten. Je maakt hier makkelijk contact. Er is een sportcentrum, studieruimtes en een klub waar we kunnen poolen en tafelvoetballen. Regelmatig worden er dingen op de campus georganiseerd.
Mijn eerste weken waren een rollercoaster van nieuwe ervaringen en nieuwe mensen, maar het hoogtepunt hier is echt de natuur!
